Dining Table in style of Tobia Scarpa, Italy, 1970s
While this table is similar to the "André" design by Tobia Scarpa for Knoll International, is displays even bolder solutions in devising the frame that supports the thick smoked glass. Where Scarpa was content with keeping the frame's beams at right angles and topping the legs with chromed rings, this unknown designer chose to send the beams straight through the legs' caps and, as the two perpendicular beams meet, they go off at an 135 degree angle, right to the chamfered corner of the table. Unlike Scarpa's fully chrome-plated André, this table alternates chrome and matte black paint in order to further emphasize its design and structural feats.
