A rather unusual piece for our repertoire, this surgical light comes to remind us that design permeates all fields, not just the artsy ones, and that good design transcends origins and use as it enters a higher state, that which we call beauty. This projector certainly is beautiful and, having been manufactured in West Germany, still works and will continue to do so for a long time. Painted in deep white and warm green, and occasionally punctuated by black bits, this acrobatic piece of medical industrial design has undeniable charm to go with its usefulness.
