Birillo floor lamp by Carlo Nason for Mazzega, Italy, 1990s

Carlo Nason lives and works in Murano, and we tend to believe this is true for both the place and the glass. Looking at this here lamp, it's not a surprise to find that his work has reached galleries in Paris, Milan, and New York. Were we to try and pin this this lamp's design down as either organic, feminine or phallic, it's clear we're dealing with something sexy. The red and white glass halves are connected by a chrome collar, and each holds a bulb within that can be lit independently, hence the two-button footswitch.
