Cantilever chairs with metal tubing frames were one of Bauhaus' proudest feats, as it embodied their spirit of innovation, structural gymnastics and efficient material use. This chair's designer, doubtlessly inspired by the great Bauhaus minds, gave up the latter when thinking it up. While all previous cantilever chairs' frames seek the shortest route from the floor to the seat and backrest, this particular one turns midway up the seat, goes to the front, turns again and only then reaches the seat. This unusual journey, coupled with the larger tube diameter and softer cushions, is due to half a century of changes in design and production philosophy. Were we to approach the designer for an explanation, he or she would probably shrug and say "I just felt like it, and no one told me not to". We are glad she did.
