Mid-Century Scandinavian style Teak Sideboard, 1960s

Massive, yet somehow managing to appear slender, this teak sideboard is a telling example of Scandinavian craft. Asymmetrically placed, the five side doors open to reveal copious amounts of light-coloured storage space. Their solid wood recessed handles bear a sculptural presence. The four drawers, sporting a wonderfully simple recessed handle, are also capacious. The doors and drawers are framed by a wooden strip inclined at a skillfully chosen angle, which serves to give the sideboard's outer walls a slim feel.  

The piece shows evidence of wear over time, its most serios defects being the chipping of one of the doors' handles.
